About The Club The Wells is more than a sports club. It is a friendly, relaxed meeting place for socialising between people of all ages and backgrounds. It is a Family Club. Founded in 1865, the facilities consist of:- CRICKET - one of the top clubs in Essex playing league and friendly fixtures. 2 grounds for 5 Saturday, 2 Sunday and Colts teams. Senior and Junior Weeks. TENNIS - 11 courts: 7 artificial grass, (5 of which are floodlit), plus 4 acrylic courts, providing excellent facilities for players of all standards. Team, competition and social tennis for Ladies, Men, Veterans and Juniors. SQUASH - 4 courts for league, competition, ladders, social squash and racquetball. Telephone court booking system. HOCKEY (CROSTYX HOCKEY CLUB) - one of the top clubs in East of England with league and friendly Hockey for all standards of player. Ladies, Men and Veterans teams. TABLE TENNIS - currently the most successful club in West Essex offering league, social and junior activity. SHORT MAT BOWLS - thriving section making use of our superb hall facilities with daytime and evening sessions. JUNIORS - extensive development and coaching programs in all sports in addition to the opportunity to represent the Club in junior level teams. OTHER ACTIVITIES - including Aerobics classes (daytime and evening), Keep-fit classes, Petanque, Yoga and Ballroom Dancing.
