Alan Carr Handicap Tournament Winners

The Alan Carr finals night was held on 24 November.

The plate final kicked things off with old hand and previous plate winner, Dave King, taking on Adam Shepperson. From being 13-4 down in the first game, Dave held it together and edged a closely fought first game. This gave Dave the confidence he needed to put in a flying start to the second game and slowly chip away at Adam’s points advantage to take the match 2-0.

The main final saw Tomasz Noetzel, one of the most improved and competitive players of recent years, take on Essex junior and up and coming player of the section, 13 year old Daniel Caton.

Daniel confidently took the first game but Tomasz fought back hard to take the second game with some ferocious shot making and fire power which unsettled Daniel. After some words of wisdom from his father, Daniel kept a cool head and maintained his 9 point advantage throughout the third game and Tomasz was unable to claw back the points he needed and Daniel won the match 2-1.

Daniel is definitely one to watch and has subsequently made his debut for the men’s team, winning his first match at Bishop’s Stortford!

A huge than you to Dave Morse for running the tournament and providing Indian snacks on finals night. The Jim Nicholls tournament will be held early next year……
