CRICKET

Founded in 1865, The Woodford Wells Cricket Club has long been at the heart of our organisation and community. We continue to grow with the aim of making cricket accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for all.

We currently run four senior men’s teams, all competing in the Hamro Foundation Essex League, with around 50 playing members, as well as a Sunday A side.

In 2021, the Wells Belles were reinvented. What began as a small softball group of eight friends has since developed into a thriving women’s section, now boasting three softball teams and one hardball team, with a total of 30 players.

Our junior section—welcoming players aged 7 to 16—is flourishing, and we are proud to have over 200 young members. Throughout the cricket season, Friday nights are the heartbeat of our juniors: coach-led training sessions paired with a BBQ and bar create a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere where parents can relax while their children learn and develop their cricket skills.

We take great pride in our facilities and invest continuously to maintain the highest standards. We are fortunate to have two pitches at our home ground, each with electronic scoreboards and three artificial nets—an asset that sets us apart.

Our goal is to offer a welcoming, well-organised, and fully resourced environment where players of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities can enjoy and participate in cricket.

If you’re looking to play at a beautiful ground with outstanding practice and playing facilities—arguably among the best in Essex—while joining a sociable and competitive cricket community, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
